I'm all excited because I will finally be teaching a class for a whole month. There is a temptation to regard it as "make work" or "casual" because it is summer conversation. This is something that I truly want to avoid, so I'm taking it very seriously!
What I'd like to do for the next little while is just document my planning as I step into this "new for me" role. Teaching is NOT the same as subbing. It is also not the same as doing a practicum. There are evaluation tasks that I need to learn. But for now, lets start with the planning stages.
Here's the link to the LINC 5 pdf. that I'm reading today: http://www.norquest.ca/pdf/edresources/linc5_aug08.pdf. I hope it works, because I know I don't want to download the whole thing to my computer at this point!
Here are my current thoughts for the month that I will be teaching:
July 2 - 5: Canada and Introductions
July 9 - 12: Stampede (We're in Calgary and it's the 100th Anniversary so this is important!)
The last two weeks are up in the air. I will leave that until I get a better feel for the students and their goals.
As I said, this is a new process for me, so I want to document that for future reference. Any ideas are welcome.
